Disabled Holidays - Coffee Morning - 28.Nov 2009

10:30 to 12:30  St Martins Centre  

November 8th 2009  Rememberance Sunday Parade and Service 

The Parade was led from the Scout Hut to the War Memorial by the St Martins Guides and Brownies followed by the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and accompanied by the Ifton Band Oswestry led by Eddie Waddon. The service was taken by Rev Ruth Shoreman, The reading was given by Mrs Elsie Young and the “Names” were read by Mr Harold Evans.


Wreaths were laid at the Memorial by Tom for the Scouts, Charlotte for the Guides, Molly Mae for the Brownies, Lauren for the Cubs, Angus for the Beavers, Mrs Joan Vernon for the W.I. and Mr Fred Gregson for the Parish Council.

Last Post and Reveille were played by Julie Garrett of Ifton Band Oswestry.

This year the Parade was followed by a service at the Ellesmere Road Methodist Chapel.

 
It makes you feel proud to see the community turn out to remember those who gave their lives in times of conflict and even prouder of the youngsters who turned out so smart in their uniforms and so disciplined in their behaviour.

November 4th  Battle of Crogan entertains the Historians

October 31st Ifton Meadows Lamp Parade

Some 250 people enjoyed a wonderful evening.  Ifton Brass Band, Jugglers, Fire eaters, beacon and hot dogs!

Historians hear the story of Bletchley Park 

Wednesday 16th September    St Martins Historians welcomed Mr B W Raftery who presented  The Story of Bletchley Park and The Enigma Machine at The St Martins Community Centre, Overton Road.
