Computer users at the Centre

St.Martins BROADPLACE

St. Martins Centre is a Switch on Shropshire 'BROADPLACE' and therefore you can use our computer facilities and access the internet free of charge for the duration of that project (until at least March 2006).

After that time we will attempt to find alternative funding for the internet access to keep the facilities free or as cheap as possible.

We do ask you though to register as a user of the BROADPLACE using our form which you can get from the centre. The purpose of the form is simply to accept our conditions of use and record the number of users of the equipment so that we can tell our funders how well the centre is being used. Centre users under 16 must have a parent or guardian add their signature to their registration form - please see note below on 'young people'.

As registered users of St. Martins Broadplace you will soon be able to use your log-in details at any of the other SoS Broadplaces.

Young People and the Internet

The centre management makes every effort to ensure the safety of users of the ICT facilities at the St.Martins Broadplace. For example we have introduced a content filtering system for our internet access. This of course is aimed at making inappropriate material unavailable to our users. However, we can not guarantee that this is foolproof. Parents and guardians of young people using the centre must ultimately accept responsibility for the welfare of their children. For that reason everyone under 16 using the centre must have parent's signature on their application form to register as ICT users. The Centre Management reserve the right to exclude any user abusing the facilities provided.

Computer Courses

We aim to have a range of computer training activities running most of the time. Please check our courses page for details. If you don't find what you need contact the ICT coordinator, Bob Briggs, who will be pleased to discuss your requirements and try to find a course to suit you. He will endeavor to put on the courses that you want. A list of people interested in attending courses is always maintained.

Conditions of use for the computers are displayed in the centre
